Last updated: October 7, 2026
1. Privacy officer
The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Maxime Blanchet. For any question or request about your personal information, you can reach them at jennifer@melodylore.com.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all your interactions with MelodyLore: browsing the site, purchases, communications and use of our services.
It is framed by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for customers in Quebec, by Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25. Commercial emails also follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
3. Information we collect
Information you provide: name, email address, billing information, and the content you submit to create the song (names, photos, memories and information about the person being honoured).
Information collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, site interaction data.
Transaction information: order history.
4. Why we collect it
We use your information to create and deliver your song, process payments, communicate with you (support, follow-up), improve our services, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations. We limit use to the purposes for which the information was collected.
5. Consent
By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information for the purposes described. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us; this may limit our ability to provide the service.
6. Sharing with service providers
We do not sell or rent your information. We rely on service providers for essential functions: payment processing, hosting, database, email delivery, media processing, spam protection, error monitoring and music and lyrics generation. These providers only have access to the information they need and are required to protect it.
7. Transfers outside your province
Some of our service providers process your information outside your province and outside Canada, notably in the United States. Before entrusting information to these providers, we assess the privacy factors involved and put in place agreements intended to ensure adequate protection, in accordance with PIPEDA and, for customers in Quebec, Law 25.
8. Retention and destruction
We keep your information as long as necessary for the stated purposes and to meet our legal obligations. Your orders and songs are kept so that you can access them. When information is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.
Applicable periods: if you did not complete a purchase, or if your purchase was refunded, the audio preview of your song and your personal information (including name, email and shared memories) are kept for a maximum of 2 years, then anonymized. If you bought your song, we keep it, along with the information needed for its delivery and for our legal obligations (including invoicing), for a maximum of 8 years, after which your personal information is anonymized.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss or disclosure.
10. Your rights
Under PIPEDA and, for customers in Quebec, Law 25, you have the following rights:
To exercise these rights, contact our privacy officer at jennifer@melodylore.com. We may verify your identity before processing your request.
11. Communications and marketing
We may send you promotional communications if you have consented. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails.
12. Cookies and tracking
We use only the browser storage needed for the site to work. If we add advertising or measurement tools, we will update this page and ask for your consent first, which you can manage at any time through our consent banner or your browser settings.
13. Children
Our services are not intended for minors and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
14. Complaints
For any complaint about the protection of your information, write to our privacy officer at jennifer@melodylore.com.
